Another year. Another GQ x Gap design partnership. Dubbing themselves as the “Coolest Menswear Designers on the Planet,” this annual collaboration, now in its tenth year, features the brightest and best creatives in the fashion industry. Consisting of pleated suiting, knitwear, printed topcoats, logo tees, tailored denim and high end-ish luxe, minimal footwear, we are introduced to Alexandre Mattiussi’s AMI, Japanese brand United Arrow (Motofumi ‘Poggy’) and New York-based Kinfolk and they represents a global (Paris, Tokyo and Brooklyn) perspective of modern menswear. According to the Gap,
“Gap is thrilled to be representing men’s fashion on a global scale with our GQ partnership this year,” says Wendi Goldman, Gap executive vice president and chief product officer. “By tapping into the ‘Coolest Designers on the Planet’ from Paris, Tokyo and Brooklyn, we’re able to bring our customers a fresh perspective on style from these emerging talents who are playing an important role in the future of menswear.”
and GQ’s EIC Jim Nelson,
“We knew expanding this collaboration and taking it international would add vibrancy to the program, and this year’s amazing designers certainly brought it. Now comes the best part: We can’t wait to see the clothes hit Gap stores, because this year feels very special.”
