A breakout star is usually the least high-maintenance and that reigns supreme with Atlanta star Lakeith Stanfield. Witty, colorful and mysterious, Stanfield’s model-esque frame is perfectly draped in Esquire’s June/July style editorial. Stylist Matthew Marden dressed the 25-year-old budding thespian in Bruno Cucinelli and Gucci suits, Haider Ackermann and Burberry printed shirts, Bally and Prada trousers, Thom Browne shoes and a bevy of other designer threads. Posing for photographer Beau Grealy, the young sartorialist is destined to become fashion’s newest darling, or at least, land on someone’s Best Dressed List.
In a full length interview, Stanfield talks in detail to Esquire about his Atlanta character Darius, a guest appearance in Jordan Peele’s Get Out and the possibility of one day getting behind the camera. Lakeith reveals, “I’d love to direct at some point. But right now I’m just focused on trying to tell cool stories and put on for the culture. You know, for us. “ He continues, ” I want a young black dude to be able to look up to me and say ‘I can do more than I thought I could do before.'”
