Spring is the season for giving and Mbarqgo’s latest collection is a purposeful intersection of philanthropy and fashion. Inspired by Haiti, the brand’s latest offering was created to support the Restavek Freedom Foundation to eradicate childhood slavery and aid in providing foster care for displayed youth in exchange for basic food, education and living necessities.
Aptly name Libre, which translates to liberation, the bags and accessories line incorporates the rich and complex Haitian history in a literal manner: rugged canvas to demonstrate the harsh treatment endured as a slave; chunky metals to present the strength of the people; and, the airy softer materials to highlight the possibility of freedom and hopes by these displaced individuals.
Standout pieces include includes masculine leather wrist wear, Le Triompe oversized tote, Le Journal Freedom silk scarf and Le Legionnaire bandolier. Moderately priced, from $59 to $269, each product will help to prevent childhood slavery for the future! Available now at Kickstarter and the brand’s website.
