(capsule) is the fashion and lifestyle trade event that fuses the best high-end contemporary brands, directional independent designers and super premium street wear labels. Presenting a highly-edited assemblage of collections from around the world, (capsule) reflects the look of the new consumer and presents a fresh approach to the fashion tradeshow.

(capsule) delivers the perfect dose of progressive style and borrows inspiration from today’s mash-up culture. From high to low, bold to subtle, impulsive to thoughtful; the beauty is in the mix. Constant across all (capsule) participants is a premium level of ideas, overall aesthetic, styling, fit, design and brand messaging. Only the world’s most innovative and sought-after brands are invited to participate.

-Capsule mission statement

This is the time of year where every man, who has ever proclaimed to be a sartorialist or just into the art of dressing, descends upon  New York City for the annual Capsule trade shows. This event, which is a pseudo masonic meeting of menswear buyers, vendors, editor, bloggers and fashion fanatics,  sets the tone for how the rest of the year is dictated and bestowed upon designers, stylists and  products geared towards modern-day males.

Though this was my first time attend Capsule I seem to fit in like a season veteran.  The fashion industry seems to get a bad reputation as being somewhat elitist but I was welcomed and was able to forge new relationships, with fellows writers as  well as veteran and up-and-coming designers. The event had a jovial tone, even though it was  dark and dreary on the outside, and everyone seemed to be networking, interviewing and inspecting racks upon racks of clothing, shoes, accessories and even candles (via Land by Land).

Throughout the course of the two day show, I saw colorful swimwear from ONIA, modern prep wear from CLOSED, wallets and leather goods from Jack Spade and Wheelmen & Co. , neckwear from FORGE Haberdashery and much more.

Below are shots I was able to obtain with my Android camera phone.  But believe you me, no justice was served. You had to be there in order to experience this fashion treat.  Enjoy!
